FAQs
-
I work out of my private studio located at 3820 Lake Otis Pkwy, Anchorage, Alaska 99508.

Please email me at EmberFandel@yahoo.com

My weekly work schedule is Monday - Thursday. I typically schedule 1 or 2 clients a day; morning/early afternoon and afternoon/evening. I am not limited to these hours and I’m willing to accommodate outside of those hours.
-
Please complete and send in your tattoo submission form. I open my appointment books for 1-2 weeks (or if I reach a maximum amount of submissions) every 3 months; January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December. Submitting a form does not guarantee an appointment and is not first come first served. However, I will respond via email to every form submitted 1-2 weeks after my booking period ends. Existing clients and ongoing projects will be prioritized. Scheduling is based on my availability, the subject of the tattoo, and if I think I am a good fit for the project.
-
I will do my best to respond to all submission forms within 1-2 weeks of the end of my booking period. The same principle applies for email consultations. Time sensitive emails can expect a faster response.
-
Please keep an eye on your inbox and spam folders! If there is no email from me to be found, there is a chance I may have missed it. If so, please don’t hesitate to reach out again.
-
To secure your appointment, a non-refundable $100 deposit is required once you confirm. This deposit will be applied to the total cost of your tattoo. Please note that there is a $10 credit card fee, which is the client's responsibility and does not go toward the total cost of the tattoo.
-
I charge $180 per hour. Some pieces, at my discretion, will have a flat rate. Available flash designs are flat rate. Tattoo appointments have a minimum cost of $100. I do my best to work fast and efficiently with the understanding that tattoos are often done on a budget. My average tattoo appointment ranges from 1-3 hours however this varies depending on design details, size, placement, etc. I will provide a price estimate in my response to your submission so you can prepare for your upcoming appointment.
-
Cash at the time of your appointment is preferred. If you are unable to bring cash to your appointment, Venmo and CashApp will also be accepted. Price estimates, are just that - estimates! Tips are always appreciated as well!
-
Please fill out my cancellation form at least 48 hours or two days prior to your appointment. We can reschedule, however you will have to wait until my books re-open for a new date. Deposits are non-refundable. Of course certain exceptions can be made and if an emergency occurs, email me at your earliest convenience and we will go from there.
-
No. If a last minute cancellation or no-show occurs I will post the appointment details on my Instagram story. Last minute openings are first-come first-serve so keep an eye on my stories.
-
I prefer to take on projects that fit within my artistic repertoire. Larger scale pieces, botanicals, florals, stylized illustration, delicate line work, ornamentals, and available flash designs are favored along with other projects that inspire. I always appreciate clients who are open to collaborating with me on a concept and encourage me to take my creative liberties.
-
I do not offer coverups. I do not touch up other artists work unless the client had a bad experience with the artist and does not feel comfortable returning to them. Re-works may be accepted if I feel confident I can accomplish the desired end result. If I feel like I am not the right fit for the project I am happy to refer you to other artists.
-
Your form will be used as a prompt - so it is important to include design details that are explicitly important to you in your form. I will have your design ready at the time of your appointment. I do not share designs with clients before the appointment. Minor adjustments can be made but any large, fundamental changes will require rescheduling.
-
Yes! Reserving a pre-drawn piece will guarantee you an appointment, it is first-come first-serve. I offer a selection of newly available designs when my books open. Available designs will be posted to my Instagram story and saved to my profile under a highlight titled, “Available”. Designs can be reserved only when my books are open by submitting a form. All designs are for sale through my booking form. Adjustments can not be made to flash designs.
-
Please email me as soon as possible if you are scheduled and change your mind about what you want tattooed. This may result in an appointment cancellation if the new concept is not a good fit.
-
Multiple minor adjustments can be time consuming and labor intensive. I allow 1 hour for adjustments. If you are still on the fence, we will have to reschedule your appointment and work towards a design you are excited about.
-
My artistic focus at this time lies outside designs involving significant color. However, I do offer color in some, inspiring cases.
-
Please wear clothing that makes your chosen placement easily accessible. I also suggest wearing clothes you don’t mind potentially getting stained with stencil or ink. Pasties are provided if needed and my studio windows are finished with frosted glass for your privacy
-
Please drink lots of water and eat a good meal before your appointment. I also suggest bringing water and snacks with you as well as anything to help you feel more comfortable (headphones, a book, fidgets, etc.) If you want to go the extra mile to make sure your skin is in tip top shape, moisturizing your skin in the days leading up to your appointment can be beneficial.
Please avoid consuming alcohol for 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Alcohol can cause multiple complications with your tattoo including excessive bleeding and swelling.
-
Yes but you must already have tattoos. I will not tattoo these areas if it is your first tattoo.
-
I do not tattoo pregnant or breastfeeding individuals. This policy is in place due to potential health risks for both you and your baby, including complications or infections. Even if you are fully aware of the risks and are comfortable proceeding, I cannot make exceptions for liability reasons.
-
No. In the state of Alaska Tattoo Artists are prohibited from practicing tattooing or permanent cosmetic coloring on a minor.
-
Only 1 additional person is allowed to your appointment.
-
Touch-ups can be scheduled when my books are open. Please include a photo of your tattoo as the reference photo. First touch-ups are free, multiple touch-ups will be charged the $100 minimum fee.
-
If a client is 30 minutes late it is considered a no show. Your deposit will be forfeited, your design may be put up for sale and you will be banned from scheduling with me again. It is difficult for me to be so blunt but tattooing is my only source of income, it is my livelihood. I understand emergencies happen and I try to be as accommodating as possible. Please respect my time and cancel ahead of time.

At this time I am not offering apprenticeships.
